Hi, my name is Carlos Nieto a.k.a "Qstom" and I’m a 32 years young Illustrator.
I left school at 16 believing somewhat naively that I had achieved all I could regarding academic development. I have trained to be a fireman, worked as a lifeguard and stocked shelves in Ikea among some other roles. In 2000 I was lucky enough to be asked to join a small team as a graphic designer in central Madrid. In 2002 I worked as a freelance comic artist/illustrator producing a number of covers and internal work for a leading Spanish comic. 2004 saw me join a team working for Cartoon Network and from 2006 to 2008 I was offered the role of Visual Development Artist and Mattte Painter on Sony's 2009 Thanks Giving hit 'Planet 51' which won a Goya in 2010 for Best Animated Film.
2008 saw me move to London following an offer to work on Universal's 'The Tale of Despereaux' once again as a Visual Development Artsit. I always aimed to work in London and so this was an amazing opportunity to develop my skills and further my career. Following this I choose to stay and have been working as a freelance artist on a number of commercial projects and animated films including lead matter-painter within the art department of the Oscar nominated 'The Lady and the Reaper.' Firms such as The Mill, Blue Sky Animation, Picasso Pictures, Nexus, AKA Studio and Passion Pictures have employed me as a freelance Visual Development Artist on a number of extremely successful pitches and projects..
I’m a freelance artist, so if you like my work and want to get something created don't hestitate to get in touch with me per mail!
Thanks and enjoy my website!
